Joe Alexander of Alexander Financial Management, is planning a trip to El Paso next month to assist our members with their retirement and other financial advice. I am putting together a list of those interested in scheduling a meeting with Joe. Send me your name and phone number and Joe will contact you. You can also call Joe directly at 972-896-5600. Remember, it's never too early to start planning for retirement. Joe is familiar with our retirement plan and has already helped many of our FF's. This service is free for members of Local 51. I have been asked about where to go for retirement planning. I recommend meeting with as many financial planners as possible. This can include your deferred comp provider which is currently Presi Ortega. This does not mean you are obligated to use them for your financial needs, but at least you can talk and pick their brains. Getting educated is the key to a successful life after retirement.
Some things to consider before retiring:
    - what happens to my deferred comp plan (you can leave your money in the account or roll it into another qualifying plan) there are pros and cons to both
    - will you need health insurance coverage or will you have other coverage
    - when should you retire (there are benefits to leaving at certain time periods)
    - what will you do after you retire

Take advantage of this valuable service.
