Your auxiliary is here for you…

Did you know that the Auxiliary of the El Paso Fire Fighters is a member of an International organization?

The El Paso Auxiliary is a member of the AIAFF (Auxiliary of the International Association of Fire Fighters.) This past August 2008 a convention was held in Las Vegas for all the auxiliaries throughout the country to come together and conduct business for our AIAFF. We were able to send one delegate to represent El Paso.

The El Paso Auxiliary is proud to have played a part in contributing money to the International who presented checks at the convention to the following IAFF charities:

John P. Redmond Foundation - $1,260.25 which conducts research and education regarding the occupational hazards and diseases associated with fire fighting. Burn Foundation - $1,110.75

MDA - $1,000

W.H. Howie McClennan Fund - $965.75

Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial - $500.00

Money for donations to IAFF charities and funds came from donations made by the 1,050 members and 49 chapters of the Auxiliary, which we are proud to say El Paso is one of those chapters.

The El Paso Auxiliary is an organization that is committed to serving the fire fighter family and the local community. We not only have donated money on an international level but also on a local level. Fundraisers are planned to raise money to support several local charities and give to less fortunate families in our community.

The Auxiliary’s big project this year was putting together a 2009 Fire Fighter Calendar as a tribute to all our local fire fighters. The calendars were sold for $10.00 and half of the proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross.

Many more projects are being planned for 2009, if you have ideas or are interested in participating with the planning of upcoming projects come join us at one of our meetings and see for yourself what the auxiliary is about.

Meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Fire Fighter’s Hall. For more information call:
