  • Retired Firefighter Robert Ball

    ROBERT BALL

    Robert "Bob/Junior" Kerbie Ball, longtime El Paso resident , went to be with our Lord on December 17, 2011. He was born November 30, 1930 in Cosby, TN to the late Kervie and Delilah McGaha Ball. He was the ninth of eleven children. Bob retired from the El Paso Fire Department in 1990 with 30 years of service. He was the founder of Bob's Pest Control and also served in the U.S. Army, worked for the railroad and the U.S. Border Patrol. He was an active member of the Retired Fire Fighters Association. He was baptized while a child and attended services at First Baptist Church with his late wife. Bob loved his family and enjoyed history, gardening, flea markets and searching out the best Mexican food restaurants. Bob is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Randy Wilmore of White City, KS; grandson, Phillip Bishop of KS; great-granddaughter , Bianca White foot of KS; brother and wife, Alfred and Kappy Ball of NJ; brother, Johnnie Ball of TN, sister, Lucille Ball Self of NC and many nieces and nephews. Bob married Colleen Wood Ball December 24, 1954 who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his son, Kirby "Scott" Ball; granddaughter, Crystal Bishop; brothers, Glen Ball, Roman Ball, Wilse Ball and Joe "Bud" Ball; sisters, Dorothy Ball Polky, Lucinda Ball Spence and Beulah Ball Herder. Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N. Carolina at Yarbrough. Bob will then have a second visitation service at Manes Funeral Home in Newport, TN on Monday, December 26, 2011 from 10:00 am to 12 noon. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Newport, TN. Services under the direction of HILLCREST FUNERAL HOME. 1060 Carolina Drive. 598-3332.
